(Q) How will hosting a TeenTour benefit the company in the short term?
(A) • An opportunity to mentor the teens who might be your future employees.
• A way of giving back to your community.
• Promote your company’s community involvement, share information on your goods and services.
• A productive company team builder which allows employees to examine their careers and share that information.
(Q) What are perfect times to host a TeenTour?
(A) Summer vacation as well as the many holidays where students have off from school and companies remain open.
(Q) How many students should be invited to a TeenTour?
(A) Start small and grow.
(Q) What internal resources are needed?
(A) People to organize, host and share information on their careers. A short leadership speech would be a bonus.
(Q) Who attends TeenTours?
(A) Your employee’s teens might be a good starting point. Beyond that, CareerTeen can provide interested teens.
(Q) Is there a cost to hosting a TeenTour?
(A) Other than the use of employee time, any extra expenditures like snacks or tchotchkes would be completely optional.
(Q) What internal resources will we need?
(A) • Top leadership – to approve and potentially speak with teens.
• Organizer – to organize and oversee TeenTours.
• Host – to speak on company overview, goods/services; provide departmental tour and introduce Career Ambassadors.
• Career Ambassadors – numerous workers, within toured departments, to share information on careers.

Sample Agenda For TeenTour
Company Overview (before tour):
√ History – be brief and to the point. A good place for top leadership to say a few words.
√ Challenges – what are the top one or two challenges that your company faces today?
√ Shifts to AI and robotics – over the next several years, how will AI and robotics change the way your company operates?
√ Future Outlook – if all goes as planned, where will your company be in 5 years?
Goods/Services Overview (before tour):
√ Problems they solve – what are they, what do they do and what problems do they solve for the people who buy them?
√ Position within marketplace – where do your goods or services sit in the marketplace compared to others?
√ Advantages over competitors– why should someone buy your goods or services over others within the marketplace?
√ Costs, pricing and profit – About how much do your offerings cost your customers and how much of that turns into profits?
Departmental tours (during tour):
√ Overview of each – what exactly does each specific department do for the company?
√ Processes used – what processes must be followed within each department and what happens if process is broken?
√ Challenges – What are the top one or two challenges for each department?
√ Results – What are the expected results and the actual results from each department?
Career Insight (Career Ambassadors share during tour):
√ Careers within departments – have both business professionals and skilled trade workers talk to about their given careers.
√ Job duties and challenges – What are the essential day to day tasks and activities, what are the challenges and solutions?
√ Education requirements – within the industry, what are typical college degree or trade school requirements?
√ Expert-level skills required – Career Ambassadors are welcome to simply share insight into their careers. If they want to go the extra mile, they can read the below CareerTeen webpages and provide deeper insight, consistent with the program.
• Teens need to understand the difference between unskilled/semi-skilled work and expert-level work. Can you provide examples of expert-level work within your career?
• Teens should understand the concept of Unconventional Experts. Of the characteristics listed, do you have examples of similar characteristics, in the way you approach your work?
• Teens need to gain insight into AI and robotics, and attempt to coexist rather than compete. How do you think AI and robotics will change your career within the upcoming years?
